California Indian Library Collection
Browse through our part of the California Indian Library Collection focusing on the tribes native to the Lassen County region, specifically the Achomawi, Atsugewi, Maidu, Paiute, and Washoe Native American tribes. View books, unpublished manuscripts and field notes, obscure scholarly articles, turn-of-the-century photographs, as well as rare sound recordings of songs and dances. These items are not eligible for borrowing and must be read in the Library. These items are not recorded in the Library's catalog.
Microfilm Local Newspaper Archive
A library of 196 rolls of microfilm containing positive images of area newspapers published from 1868 to 2005, depending on the newspaper. There is also a set of microfilm containing contents of books, letters, theses and Lassen County Voter Registers from 1900 to 1944. Ask a staff member for access to the specific paper and date. Instruction on how to use the microfilm reader is available. These items are not recorded in the Library's catalog. The newspapers included are:
