Program Mission

The Lassen Library offers a great adult literacy program for those who are interested in improving their literacy skills and meeting their personal educational goals. We do this in a multitude of ways through individualized curriculum comprised of scheduled workshops/classes and/or one-on-one tutoring by trained tutors, and a variety of resources for additional practice, all in the safe environment of the library. The best part about this is all of these programs are free!

As a complement to the below offered educational opportunities learners and tutors are encouraged to check out and make use of our online Life-Long Learning resources, as appropriate.

Need Your GED?

We offer the following support to help you earn your GED:

Weekly preparation classes
One-on-One tutoring
Small group classes taught by a credentialed teacher
Free Individualized curriculum
We help pay for your tests
Counselor support for transition to college

English as a Second Language (ESL)

Twice weekly classes
Translator available at each class
Free curriculum
Free babysitting services offered

Computer & Internet Basics

Monthly classes on Saturday afternoons
Basic desktop computer navigation
Internet basics; web browsers, email, safe online research
Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, Publisher

Interested in attending as a Learner or participating as a Tutor?

As a Literacy Learner we will help you reach your educational goals whether you are interested in obtaining your GED, improving your computer literacy or want to brush up on your math or reading skills to better help your children.

As a Literacy Tutor you will help someone work toward their educational goals, a truly rewarding and fulfilling experience. The Adult Literacy program will train, support and provide you all of the resources needed to help you and your learner be a successful team.
